Chillers are one of the largest energy guzzlers in any industrial setup. Typical chiller systems, including pumps, run at a specific consumption of 1.3-1.4 kW/TR. Depending on the ambient temperatures, it is possible to reduce this to 0.7-0.8 kW/TR.

Primary reasons for inefficient chiller operations are lack of synchronization between demand and supply, uneven temperature requirements across spaces, manual control systems and unintegrated operations.
